Boeing Is Revolutionizing Airplane Manufacturing

Application of lean manufacturing principles has transformed the look of the airplane factory and made the production process more transparent. Managers, engineers, assemblers and suppliers can see at a glance when an airplane on the line needs attention. Proven on existing airplane programs, lean manufacturing principles shaped the production process of the 787 Dreamliner from the earliest stages of design. The 787 provides the first opportunity to apply lean principles to an entirely new program, unconstrained by legacy production requirements.
